The Problem

Every classroom has students who face unseen challenges. One of the most overlooked yet impactful difficulties is related to writing development. Writing difficulties often go unnoticed or are misunderstood, affecting students confidence, academic performance, and engagement. At first our team researched ways to ease and relieve writing pain associated with dysgraphia and fine motor regression, but once we stepped back and examined all our insights, we realized a much bigger gap in the education system as it is today

Our Solution

Rune, a powerful AI platform that bridges the gap between educators and students, enabling objective, real-time assessments of writing development. With a variety of sensors encased in an ergonomic form factor, Rune leverages advanced data collection and analysis to provide teachers with the insights they need to identify and address writing challenges early.

Educational Technology Research estimates that theres a 30% improvement in accurate diagnosis with AI tools. Theres also a 55% increase in engagement with tech in classrooms according to EdTech Review. This system empowers students by creating a supportive learning environment where their unique struggles are acknowledged and supported, fostering confidence and academic growth.

Through interviews and research, it became clear that there was a gap between teachers and students when it came to writing difficulties. We heard numerous stories of people experiencing misunderstanding with their teachers. Expressing a student-teacher disconnect across all of our insights. This became a huge problem area we felt the need to address. 90% of those we reached out to said they received little to no support for their dysgraphia and other writing difficulties.

Why is this?

Traditional educational approaches rely heavily on teacher observation to identify issues. While dedicated teachers face large class sizes and limited resources, making it difficult to catch nuanced writing issues.

They ask themselves, is it bad handwriting, or something serious? Imagine a teacher having to pay attention to 20 different students while developing their handwriting. This can be a stressful job, especially when everyone can display symptoms differently based on a variety of metrics. This subjective method often misses subtle signs and relies on assumptions, which can delay proper intervention and support. Especially those with dysgraphia and fine motor regression.

Rune aims to change that by introducing an objective, data-driven solution that enhances the ability to identify, understand, and respond to writing difficulties with accuracy and care. This gives teachers the tools they need to spot and address student needs in an objective way, without the need to go by gut instincts and assumptions.
